The Parma region is full of castles, considered among the most beautiful and preserved all over the country. The Rossi Castle, located in San Secondo and built between 1300 AD and 1400 AD is a perfect example. The Palio delle Contrade takes place in the first week of June, with the historic parade and the knights tournament. Just few km from San Secondo you can find the Sanvitale Fortress in Fontanellato, decorated by Parmigianino frescos in the Diana and Actaeon room. Several prestigious paintings can be found also in the Roccabianca Castle built by Pier Maria Rossi in the middle of XV century for his beloved Bianca Pellegrini.
Inside the Meli Lupi Castle in Soragna, built in 1385 AD, an amazing Baroque furniture collection is kept, while the Colorno Palace surprises with its beautiful courtyards decorated with french water features.
Not far from B&B il Gruccione, you can find also the birthplace and the house of Giuseppe Verdi: Roncole Verdi, Busseto, and Sant'Agata.
