San Secondo is located right in the middle of Food Valley, the home of the most loved Italian food in the world. The "Bassa" region (meaning lowland) is full of ancient flavours that have survived over the times. This is the area of the culatello di Zibello, the salame di Felino, and the prosciutto di Parma (Parma ham). All the countryside is full of cheese factories, where you can buy Parmigiano Reggiano d.o.c. (the famous original Parmesan cheese), probably the most famous cheese in the world.
Every year in November you can visit the November Porc a pork-dedicated fair involving every week end four village of the area, all easily reachable from the B&B il Gruccione.

Passing by San Secondo you must stop to taste the hot spalla cotta (typical hot cooked meats) together with a glass of Fortanina (sweet sparkling red wine).
From San Secondo it is easy to reach the Parma Fair avoiding the urban traffic jam, many national and international events are hosted there, one for all is Cibus, International Food Exhibition.
